Blending Vintage Whimsy with Timeless Design
When our client, Amber Diamond, reached out to us to design a nursery for her growing family, she wasn’t looking for something trendy or theme-driven. She wanted a space with heart. Something timeless, a little nostalgic, and full of quiet character.
She imagined teddy bears, vintage toy planes, maybe even a Highland cow or two. Her vision lived somewhere between Ralph Lauren and a well-loved storybook. Classic. Personal. Full of soul.
There were plenty of ready-made nursery ideas out there, but none of them felt quite right. So we partnered with Pottery Barn to bring her favorite elements together in a way that felt unique to her family and true to their home.
The Vision: A Globe-Trotting Teddy Bear
As we started dreaming up ideas, one of our designers remembered a childhood favorite: Letters from Felix, a story about a stuffed rabbit who travels the world and sends postcards home. It felt warm and full of wonder, and it quickly became the spark for the nursery’s direction.
That memory inspired the idea of a globe-trotting teddy bear. A space that celebrated vintage travel, imagination, and comfort. It gave us the perfect way to bring in those Ralph Lauren layers while keeping things playful and full of charm.
Where Ralph Lauren Meets Storybook Adventure
This nursery needed to feel collected and layered, not themed or overdone. We pulled together a mix of vintage greens, warm neutrals, natural wood, and soft, worn-in textures. The vibe landed somewhere between a Ralph Lauren nursery and an old-world explorer’s den. Elegant and grounded, but imaginative too.
We added woven details and brass finishes to bring in warmth, while textiles like plaid, knits, and heirloom-style bedding kept it feeling cozy and lived-in. Every layer added to the feeling of timelessness, without locking the room into a specific age or stage.
Layered, Lived-In, and Full of Character
To balance all the tradition, we brought in a few unexpected elements, like the pendant light. Its mid-century shape adds just the right contrast and helps the room feel current without pulling focus. Little details like that give the space personality and keep it from feeling overly styled.
The mix of vintage textures, Western details, and classic Ralph Lauren-inspired design gave the room depth. It doesn’t scream “nursery,” and that was the goal. It feels like it belongs to the home. Like it’s always been there, waiting to be filled with story and sentiment.
The Details That Made It Personal
You can shop our favorite nursery decor below, but here are a few of the design choices that brought this space to life:
Textiles and Decor: Layered bedding, a mix of plaid and soft solids, travel-themed accessories, and vintage-inspired artwork.
Color Palette: Warm olive, creamy neutrals, pops of rattan and brass.
Personal Touches: Custom wall art, keepsakes, and decor that reflect the family’s story.

Designing With Heart
What made this project really special was the story behind it. Amber didn’t bring us a theme, she brought us a feeling. Nostalgia. Curiosity. That kind of quiet magic you find in the pages of a storybook.
Designing a nursery this way gives it a heartbeat. It turns a room into something more. A space where a child can dream, grow, and feel surrounded by comfort and love.
A Nursery That Grows With the Family
This space started with ideas as simple as teddy bears and travel, but it came together as something timeless and layered. Every corner tells a story. It has heritage, warmth, and just the right touch of that iconic Ralph Lauren charm.
It’s a nursery that’s designed to last. Not just for the baby stage, but for years to come. That’s always our goal; to create spaces that feel personal, collected, and meaningful to the families who live in them.
If you’re dreaming of a nursery that feels soulful and classic, we’d love to help bring it to life. Let’s chat!
