Happy New Year! As we head into 2026, I’m feeling genuinely inspired by where design is going. We’re moving away from anything that feels overly minimal or trend-driven and toward homes that feel layered, personal, and full of story. I’m most inspired by homes that feel collected over time, where craftsmanship and personal history shape the space in subtle yet meaningful ways. These are the details that bring warmth and meaning into a space, and they’re the ones I see shaping interiors in 2026. Let’s talk about the design trends we’re excited to see more of this year.

1. A Return to Heritage & Nostalgia

Design is leaning back into history in a way that feels comforting and deeply personal. We’re seeing a renewed love for classic motifs, traditional silhouettes, and heirloom details that nod to the past without feeling stuck in it. Blue and white elements like porcelain, plates, and ceramics are showing up in collected ways, alongside darker, moodier wood tones that feel rich and grounding. Think less light oak, more depth and patina. This “grandma-core” moment is cozy and chic, with lace, ruffles, embroidery, and layered textures reimagined in an elevated, intentional way that feels lived-in and loved.

2. Silver is Back

After years of warm metals dominating, silver is making a quiet but confident return. Antique silver, pewter, and softly patinated finishes are showing up in accessories, lighting, and decorative layers, adding a sense of age and authenticity. Rather than feeling shiny or new, these pieces bring a worn-in elegance that feels timeless. Silver is being used thoughtfully, mixed with other finishes, and embraced for its ability to reflect light while still feeling grounded and collected over time.

3. Craftsmanship and Customized Details

2026 is all about celebrating the details that make a home feel truly bespoke. These rooms feel richly layered and collected, with a sense of confidence that comes from embracing pattern rather than playing it safe.

Especially in bathrooms, there’s a shift toward spaces that feel fun, memorable, and unapologetically expressive.

While softer hues like Cloud Dancer may be named color of the year, we’re seeing a broader shift toward richer, more saturated tones. All shades of blue are having a moment, alongside earthy colors with depth and warmth. There’s less interest in pale, washed-out shades and more love for pigment that feels grounding and timeless. These colors bring a sense of comfort and longevity, creating spaces that feel cozy, soulful, and designed to last.
