MIRACLE MILE RENOVATION
Although it had great bones, this 100-year-old Spanish style home in California needed significant repairs and cosmetic upgrades. Audrey Scheck Design preserved the home's original construction by partnering with structural engineers and geologists to replace 120 linear feet of foundation under the main house. Other repairs included working with experts to design and implement a new underground drainage system and partnering with a mason to rebuild the front and back walkways. Exterior enhancements included installation of artificial turf, new gates, lighting, and landscaping along with upgrading accents such as door hardware, house numbers, and the mailbox. To add cohesion throughout the two structures (the main house and the accessory dwelling unit / guest house), ASD replaced flooring throughout both spaces and repainted the full interior. The interior lighting schematic and electrical wiring were updated in each room, including replacing all light switches, electrical outlets, and lighting fixtures. The guest and primary bathrooms were remodeled to have wider showers, new vanities, countertops, toilets, plumbing fixtures, lighting fixtures, and accents. The primary bathroom was reconfigured to eliminate the alcove tub, and three office spaces were converted into bedrooms to increase the resale value of the home.
